YACHAD SCHOLARSHIP TO ISRAEL
The Coalition’s shadow for disabilities, carers and the voluntary sector, Senator Mitch Fifield, will be studying portfolio issues in Israel as a Yachad Scholar from 3 – 15 July 2009.
The Yachad Scholarship, awarded each year since 2002, is sponsored by the National Australia Bank with the objective of sending political and civic leaders on a program of individual study to Israel. Previous scholars include the Hon Wayne Swan MP.
Senator Fifield’s scholarship program will primarily focus on the portfolio areas of disabilities and the not-for-profit sector examining:
* Israeli NGO programs and projects which seek to assist people with disability, their families and carers
and
* NGO programs with a focus on children at risk
Senator Fifield will also examine the role of women in the Israeli military and current economic and political issues.
