NATIONAL DISABILITY AWARDS
Senator Mitch Fifield, the Coalition’s spokesman for Disabilities, today congratulated the winners of the 2009 National Disability Awards, announced last night at a dinner in Parliament House.
Melissa Noonan, from Limbs4Life, won the Social Inclusion Award. Michael Taggart was successful in the Local Government category. Dudley Afford, was the winner of the Disability Rights Young Leader Award. The joint winners of the Minister’s Lifelong Achievement Award were Sue Gordon and Robert Strike, and the Business Award Winner was Tina Zeleznik.
“All of these winners, and all of the finalists, have made fantastic contributions to their communities and to the lives of people with disabilities. I congratulate them for their selfless work to make a real difference,” Senator Fifield said.
Senator Fifield represented Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull at the awards ceremony last night.
