The Coalition spokesman on Disabilities, Senator Mitch Fifield today congratulated Bruce Bonyhady on being made a Member of the Order of Australia.
Mr Bonyhady received his AM for service to people with disabilities, their families and carers, for his work as Chairman of Yooralla and his extensive contribution to a range of charitable organisations.
“Bruce has been a ceaseless advocate for Australians with disability. Most recently, he has championed the concept of a National Disability Insurance Scheme which, thanks to Bruce’s efforts, is now being examined by the Productivity Commission,” Senator Fifield said.
“In addition to serving as Chairman of Yooralla, Bruce is also President of Philanthropy Australia and a Member of the Independent Panel advising the Productivity Commission in its inquiry into a National Disability Insurance Scheme.
“Bruce’s hard work and dedication has been instrumental in improving the lives of Australians with disability.
“He thoroughly deserves to be granted an award in the Order of Australia for his contribution to the community.
“I would also like to congratulate all the other deserving recipients who have received a Queen’s Birthday Honour this year for their hard work in the disability and not-for-profit sectors.”
