THE GOVERNMENT’S NON-EXISTENT PARLIAMENTARY AGENDA
In Question Time today the Leader of the Government in the Senate confirmed that the Government has no agenda.
When asked during Senate Question Time what were the key items of the Government’s legislative agenda, Senator Chris Evans replied that the Government’s Compulsory Student Union legislation was the big item.
“Julia Gillard and the Government constantly harp on about how the Opposition are ‘wreckers’ and are obstructing the Government’s legislative agenda.”
“But where is the legislation that the Coalition is supposedly wrecking?”
“Julia Gillard and the Labor Party fought tooth and nail to get back into power, doing deals left, right and centre to cling to power and form minority government.”
“But for what purpose? Why did they go to such effort to hold onto government when they have no reforms or policies to legislate?”
“Australians need the Government to take real action on the ever-increasing cost of living pressures they face, rather than sitting around complaining that the Opposition is making their lives hard,” Senator Fifield said.
