International Day of People with Disability
Shadow Minister for Disabilities, Carers and the Voluntary Sector, Senator Mitch Fifield, today welcomed International Day of People with Disability, which is celebrated today around the world.
“International Day of People with Disability is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the talents and achievements of people with disability,” Senator Fifield said.
“Australians with disability make enormous contributions to our community, despite the hurdles they face.”
“Today gives us all a chance to reflect on and acknowledge the positive impact people with disability have in our community,” Senator Fifield said.
“Today is also an opportunity for Governments across Australia to commit themselves to ensuring that equality and rights are extended to people with disability.”
Senator Fifield encouraged all Australians to get involved with International Day of People with Disability celebrations in their community.
“Many local community events are taking place to celebrate International Day of People with Disability,” Senator Fifield said.
“These events aim to promote awareness about both the challenges faced and achievements of people with disability.”
“International Day of People with Disability is a chance for us to acknowledge the importance of providing people with disability every opportunity to participate fully in our society, and to work towards that goal with renewed enthusiasm,” Senator Fifield said.
