SENATOR MITCH FIFIELD ACKNOWLEDGES AUSTRALIA’S CARERS
Senator Mitch Fifield today welcomed Carers Week 2011 and thanked carers across Australia for the enormous contribution they make.
Carers Week 2011 is being held between Sunday 16 October and Saturday 22 October.
Carers are of all ages and come from all parts of and lifestyles in Australia. This is reflected in the theme of Carers Week, “Anyone, Anytime can be a carer“.
Carers often dedicate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide care, love and support to family and friends.
Without the dedication and support of Australia’s unpaid carers who provide support to family and friends who are frail, have a disability, an illness or chronic condition, many Australians would not be able to continue living at home or participate in the community.
“Carers week is an opportunity to acknowledge the enormous contribution that carers make to the community and to the people they care for,” Senator Fifield said.
“I encourage all Australians to recognise the millions of their fellow citizens, young and old, who care for a family member or friend.”
