Whittlesea Disability Network host federal Minister and Liberal candidate for morning tea
The Whittlesea Disability Network has today hosted the federal Minister with responsibility for disability, Senator Mitch Fifield, for morning tea at the Mernda bakery.
“I was delighted to meet today with members from the Whittlesea Disability Network,” Senator Fifield said.
The Network meets monthly at the Whittlesea Civic Centre and is made up of people with disabilities, carers and service providers in the Whittlesea area.
“I’m always pleased to see people with disability coming together with their carers and service providers to share ideas, resources and information in order to improve the livs of people with disability,” Senator Fifield said.
“It was a real privilege to meet with the Network and hear about their work.”
The Minister provided an update to the Network about the progress of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and discussed how it would affect people with disability in the Whittlesea area.
They were also joined by state Liberal candidate for Yan Yean, Sam Ozturk.
“It was great to meet the people who make up the Whittlesea Disability Network and learn about their work and its impact on our local community,” Mr Ozturk said.
“It is community organisations like this that are the lifeblood of our local area, keeping people connected and helping them achieve their goals.
Mr Ozturk also reiterated the Victorian Government’s strong support for the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme across the state.
“The NDIS will make a great difference to the lives of thousands of Victorians with a disability and the Victorian Government remains firmly committed to its rollout.
