Additional funding boost to upgrade Freeway Reserve
The Australian Government is delivering additional sporting infrastructure upgrades in Mulgrave, with an extra funding boost of $138,786 committed for upgrades to the Freeway Reserve Pavilion.
Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs said the Australian Government had previously approved over $161,000 to deliver on an election commitment to improve accessibility and lighting at Freeway Reserve.
“The Australian Government will commit an extra $138,786 to convert the two existing change rooms into four changes rooms and refurbish the existing showers and toilets,” Mr Briggs said.
Senator for Victoria the Hon Mitch Fifield said the additional funding was yet another example that the Australian Government is committed to delivering for Bruce.
“This is an exciting announcement for Mulgrave residents because it means that local residents are getting more bang for their buck from the federal government,” Senator Fifield said.
“Once completed, this upgrade will benefit multiple clubs and players and will bolster local sporting infrastructure facilities.
“A comfortable and safe space for change rooms is an important aspect of any sporting competition or event; this upgrade will improve safety and accessibility and encourage both male and female participation in sport in Mulgrave and the surrounding community.
“In addition, the project will provide an important economic boost to the region during construction by creating local jobs.”
Construction is expected to start January 2016 and be completed by June 2016.
