The Government congratulates Michelle Guthrie on her appointment as Managing Director by the ABC Board.
Ms Guthrie will succeed Mark Scott in May 2016 and officially join the ABC in early April.
Ms Guthrie has an impressive international broadcasting and business background having worked in senior executive roles with News International, Foxtel, Star TV, Providence Equity Partners and Google.
Ms Guthrie will be the first female Managing Director in the ABC’s history and her appointment to the ABC Board will mean there will be a majority of female members for the first time.
The Government looks forward to working with Ms Guthrie and the ABC Board to ensure our national broadcaster delivers quality services and programming for all Australians.
The Government also thanks and acknowledges Mark Scott for his contribution as Managing Director at the ABC since 2006. Mr Scott had previously announced that he will conclude his tenure next year.
