The Government has announced the appointments of Teresia Fors and John Mullen to the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum as members for a three year term.
Both appointees will bring strong skills to the Council, ensuring a range of expertise across corporate governance, financial and business management, philanthropy and Australian maritime history.
Ms Fors is the Managing Director of Viking River Cruises Australia and has extensive experience in sales, marketing, governance and tourism. She has an MBA from the University of Sydney, a Diploma in Business Communication from IMH Business School and a Diploma in Language Studies from Stockholm University, Sweden. She is also a 2015 graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been Director of the Swedish Australia Chamber of Commerce since 2011.
Mr Mullen is the Chief Executive Officer of Asciano Ltd and has held various chief executive officer positions since 1991. He is currently on the boards of Asciano and Telstra, and is co?founder of the Silentworld Foundation which supports maritime archaeology in Australia. Mr Mullen holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Surrey and will bring his expertise in philanthropy, maritime archaeology, leadership and management to the Council. As the Chair of the Australian National Maritime Foundation, his appointment will strengthen communication and relationships between the Council and the foundation.
The Council is responsible for the performance of the museum and its exhibition and preservation of Australian maritime heritage.
