The Government has announced the re-appointment of Professor Catharine Lumby and the appointment of Michael Traill AM and Maureen Plavsic as members of the Council of the National Museum of Australia for a period of three years.
Professor Lumby is a well-known author and public commentator on social issues in the media and has an Honours degree in Fine Arts. She has made a significant contribution during her first term on the Council, particularly in the areas of strategic communication, information technology and media.
Mr Traill was founding Chief Executive Officer of Social Ventures Australia from 2002 to 2014 and co?founder and Executive Director of Macquarie Group’s private equity arm, Macquarie Direct Investment and will bring his expertise in philanthropy investment and development to the Council. Mr Traill is chair of a number of organisations, including Goodstart Childcare Ltd and the SVA Social Impact Fund. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from Harvard University.
Ms Plavsic has 25 years of experience in media, advertising and brand marketing including as CEO, Executive Director and head of sales and corporate marketing at Seven Network Limited. Ms Plavsic is a Director of
1-Page and a board member of Bestest Inc. and was previously a director of Pacific Brands, Macquarie Radio Network, board member of Opera Australia and a Trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria.
