MR JULIAN LEESER, LIBERAL CANDIDATE FOR BEROWRA
6 June 2016
nbn construction work has begun in the electorate of Berowra, as the Turnbull Coalition Team delivers on another milestone, rolling out faster and more affordable nbn, Liberal Candidate Julian Leeser announced today.
Joined by the Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield, Mr Leeser said that today’s announcement is great news for residents in the electorate of Berowra.
“Residents will soon see the first stage of the nbn construction work underway in Glenhaven and more work to begin in coming months across Berowra, Brooklyn, Cowan, and Dangar Island,” Mr Leeser said.
“And, with detailed design work in these areas due to be completed by the end of June, the rollout of fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) technology to begin shortly afterwards.”
Under the Turnbull Coalition Team’s faster and more affordable nbn rollout, more than 42,000 homes and businesses in the electorate will either by ready-for-service or under construction by October 2018.
“By the end of the year, construction work will have also commenced in Dural, where nearly 2,000 premises will be connected to the nbn using FTTN and HFC technology and planning work is already underway for 1,370 premises which will be connected to the nbn’s high-speed fixed wireless network,” Mr Leeser said.
Minister Fifield said nbn is already planning for new fixed wireless towers which will provide high-speed broadband to residents in Annangrove, Arcadia North, Dural East, Galston, Galston East, Glenhaven, Glenorie, Glenorie South, Kenthust, Kenthust West, Middle Dural, Nelson, and Riverstone.
“Under the Turnbull Coalition Team, the nbn is ahead of schedule and on budget and today, more than 2.5 million premises can connect to the nbn across Australia and there are more than one million active connections,” Minister Fifield said.
“Despite being in government for six years, Labor did not connect a single premise to the nbn in the electorate of Berowra and nation-wide, Labor only managed to connect 51,000 premises to the nbn, despite spending $6 billion on the project. Labor missed every nbn rollout target it set for itself.”
