The Turnbull Government has announced $1.16m funding for Sounds Australia to further develop Australia’s national and international contemporary music industry.
This funding of $290,000 per year over four years will complement a $1.2 million investment by the Australia Council.
I am delighted to continue to support the good work of Sounds Australia in building new audiences for great Aussie talent in international markets.
Sounds Australia has supported the careers of 620 Australian artists through its work at 50 different international events in 53 cities across 20 countries.
It has fast-tracked the global success of artists such Courtney Barnett, Flume, Chet Faker and Vance Joy, all of whom benefited from support from Sounds Australia.
Sounds Australia is an initiative between the Australian Government (via the Australia Council and the Department of Communications and the Arts) and industry body APRA AMCOS (the Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society).
