MINISTER FOR SOCIAL SERVICES

The Turnbull Government has announced more than $100,000 for arts and disability peak body, Arts Access Australia, through the Catalyst-Australian Arts and Culture Fund.
The Government is committed to improving access to the arts for all Australians. This funding will support a collaboration between Arts Access Australia and the German non-governmental organisation, Foerderband.
The project will deliver disability awareness workshops in Berlin, an international curatorial exchange of Australian artists with disability and a mixed media exhibition in September 2017.
Australia is recognised as a leader in knowledge and practice in the area of disability access and awareness in the arts and cultural sectors. This collaboration will provide an important opportunity for artistic and cultural organisations in Germany to exchange ideas and experiences with their Australian counterparts.
Arts Access Australia is the peak body for arts and disability and plays a national role promoting opportunities and access for people with disability in the arts.
The United Nations International Day of People with Disability is celebrated annually on 3 December. This year’s objectives include laying the foundation for a future of greater inclusion for persons with disability.
