The Turnbull Government has appointed Mr Kim Ledger and Ms Caroline Elliott as members to the Board of the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) for three year terms.
Mr Ledger, the father of the late award-winning actor Heath Ledger, has experience in the film industry, having managed his son’s career and as the Patron of the Heath Ledger Scholarship.
The scholarship, established in 2008 in his son’s memory, is open to young and emerging Australian actors to help them with career and educational opportunities in the United States.
Mr Ledger has also established and operated a number of successful small businesses. His connections to the international and Australian film industries will be invaluable to the Board.
Ms Elliott has extensive experience in corporate consultancy, including strategic, governance and financial advisory roles. She has also served on a number of boards including the Public Transport Ombudsman Limited, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and Cell Therapies Pty Ltd.
Both appointees bring strong personal experience and professional skills to the Board, including strategic, financial and business management expertise.
The National Film and Sound Archive collects, preserves and displays Australia’s film, video, television, stills and recorded sound. The Board of the NFSA is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the organisation.
