The Turnbull Government has announced $100,000 over four years for Regional Arts Australia’s Amplify project, through the Regional Arts Fund Strategic Project funding stream.
This funding will help support regional artists, arts workers and arts organisations to develop new partnerships and business opportunities.
Amplify will provide a national platform that drives research, discussion and strategic direction for regional arts. It aims to raise awareness of and increase participation in regional arts through research, publications, webinars and forums.
Amplify’s research will explore new partnerships and engage new audiences to help build regional cultural awareness. The research will focus on arts and health in regional Australia and performing arts touring. It will be shared through publications to generate discussion and encourage collaboration.
The webinars will give people a chance to work together online irrespective of where they live. The themes will centre on rethinking arts and culture in regional areas and the value of the arts in people’s lives.
Amplify will also deliver regional arts sector forums in 2017 and 2019 to foster regional arts networking opportunities. The forums will target identified gaps and explore how regional arts can work more closely with other sectors including health.
Each year, the Australian Government provides approximately $3.4 million through the Regional Arts Fund to support sustainable cultural development in regional and remote communities. This includes support for art projects, professional development for artists, community building initiatives and projects of national significance.
