The Turnbull Government has reappointed the Hon Margaret White AO as a member of the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) on a part-time basis for a second three-year term.
Ms White is the Commissioner for the Royal Commission into Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory. She previously worked as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland for almost 20 years before her appointment to the Court of Appeal in Queensland. Her legal and social expertise will continue to support the Council’s work.
Ms White’s appointment will ensure that the Council continues to benefit from her extensive legal background and her strong focus on outreach to the Northern Territory and engagement with Indigenous people. Ms White will also continue her role as Chair of the Council’s Public Engagement, Research, Commercial and Visitor Services Committee.
The ANMM is Australia’s national centre for maritime collections, exhibitions, research and archaeology. The Council is responsible for the performance of the Museum and its exhibition and preservation of Australian maritime heritage.
