The Turnbull Government has reappointed Mr Thomas Bradley QC to the Council of the National Library of Australia (NLA) for a second three year term.
Mr Bradley has been a barrister for more than 15 years and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2013. He has worked as a solicitor at the Supreme Court of Queensland and as an Industrial Law lecturer at the University of Queensland.
He is highly involved in the arts sector and is currently the president of Access Arts Inc, a Queensland organisation assisting people experiencing disability or disadvantage to engage with the arts. Prior to becoming president in 2013, he was a Management Committee member from 1996 to 2000. Mr Bradley is also a vice-patron of the Queensland Art Gallery/ Gallery of Modern Art Foundation and a member of the Foundation Committee. He is the chair of the Brisbane Festival Giving Committee.
Mr Bradley’s practice is predominantly in commercial disputes, with a particular focus on competition, economic regulation, resources and construction. Through his reappointment, the Council will continue to benefit from his extensive legal expertise.
The Council is the NLA’s governing body which includes the Director-General, a representative of the Senate and a representative of the House of Representatives. The NLA documents resources of national significance with more than 10 million items in its collection ranging from books, journals, newspapers, music scores, maps, e-resources, websites and manuscripts.
