Appointment of Director of the Classification Board

The Turnbull Government has appointed Ms Margaret Anderson as Director of the Classification Board (the Board) for a two year term.
Ms Anderson has 30 years’ experience in government and non-government organisations having worked in a range of sectors including legal services, correctional services and legislation policy.
Ms Anderson has held several positions including Executive Officer and Registrar of the Serious Offenders’ Review Council and is currently a member of the Executive Board of the Prisoners’ Aid Association of NSW.
She has been the Deputy Director of the Board since 2013 and has been the acting Director of the Board since 1 July 2017.
Ms Anderson’s appointment will provide continued leadership to the Board in the classification of films, computer games and publications. Her expertise in legal matters and interest in consumer education and media convergence will assist the Board and Classification Branch to develop and implement policy reforms.
Ms Anderson’s appointment was made in consultation with relevant State and Territory ministers.
The Board is responsible for the classification of films, computer games and some publications under the National Classification Scheme.
