The Australian Government has appointed Mr John Barrington AM and Adjunct Professor the Honourable Chris Pearce and reappointed Professor Susan Street AO as directors of the Creative Partnerships Australia Board, for three year terms.
Mr Barrington has more than 25 years’ experience in strategy, governance and arts leadership. He is the Chair of the Perth International Arts Festival and the Curtin University School of Management Advisory Board. He was a strategic consultant for arts companies including the West Australian (WA) Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber of Arts WA and Culture and the WA Government Department of Culture and the Arts. Earlier this year, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the WA community.
Professor Pearce has extensive expertise in business, finance and executive management in the not-for-profit, private and government sectors. He is an external representative on the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Education and Community Engagement Board Committee. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Deakin University and the Deputy Chair and Non‑Executive Director of St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research. He was previously Chair and Non-Executive Director of Anglicare Victoria and of Global Voices. He has served as a Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and as a Member of the House of Representatives.
Professor Street has been a Director of the Creative Partnerships Board since 2013. She has extensive experience as an artist and educator, and is currently the Executive Director of Queensland University of Technology (QUT) precincts. Professor Street was the Executive Dean of the Creative Industries Faculty at QUT and Dean of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2014 for distinguished service to the performing arts, particularly to dance education in her roles as a teacher, administrator and mentor.
Chair of CPA Catherine Walter welcomed the appointments to the Board and the expertise the new directors will bring to the deliberations of CPA.
