INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY
Senator Mitch Fifield, the Coalition’s spokesman for Disabilities, today welcomed International Day of People with a Disability (IDPwD), 3 December 2009.
“Today is a great opportunity to recognise the contribution made by people with a disability to their community,” Senator Fifield said.
“People with disabilities achieve great things and International Day of People with a Disability is a great way to celebrate them.
“In 2008, more than 700 events were held across Australia to celebrate the achievements of people with a disability. Many great events will be held again this year,” said Senator Fifield.
Senator Fifield attended the awards ceremony at Parliament House on 23 November which recognised National Disability Award recipients.
